Al Amal Hospital for Mental Health, one of the medical facilities affiliated with the Emirates Health Services Foundation, organized the “Autism Talks” event in cooperation with the Emirates Autism Society, with the aim of raising community awareness, supporting people with autism, and enhancing the community’s role in enhancing the quality of life of this group, with the participation of an elite group of speakers. During her opening speech, Dr. Nour Al Muhairi, Director of the Mental Health Department at the Foundation, stressed the importance of the event in highlighting the challenges faced by community members of people of determination, noting that providing support and guidance to these individuals is one of the Foundation’s main priorities, explaining that autism disorder is considered a challenge. It has great health and social benefits for communities, and weak community awareness of it may lead to isolation of its owners and reduce their opportunities for social and practical participation.

For his part, Dr. Ammar Hamid Al-Banna, Director of Al-Amal Hospital for Mental Health, stressed the importance of community initiatives within the health system, noting the importance of activating and communicating the voices of people with autism and their families, through sharing stories and experiences in “Autism Talks,” as it inspires a spirit of hope in society, especially among families.
