Amazon is rolling out a software update for its Alexa Plus assistant designed to connect smart home appliances across multiple major manufacturers through automated request routing. The preview feature allows the voice-activated platform to interact directly with hardware from brands including Bosch, Delta, Ecovacs, iRobot, Yale Home, Whirlpool, Tapo, and Eufy, according to company announcements.
Contextual Reasoning Overrides Separate Apps
Under the new preview system, Alexa Plus parses complex spoken instructions and translates them into specific appliance settings. Amazon demonstrated the functionality using a laundry scenario where a user tells the assistant, “Alexa, my kid’s soccer jersey could use a deep clean, but the tag says cold wash only.”
Hardware Ecosystems Tied to Unified Prompts
This automated routing applies across the newly supported brand roster, allowing homeowners to coordinate cleaning robots, security locks, kitchen appliances, and plumbing fixtures through unified voice prompts.
The expansion covers robotic vacuums from iRobot and Ecovacs, smart locks from Yale Home, kitchen and laundry hardware from Whirlpool and Bosch, faucets from Delta, and smart home cameras and plugs from Tapo and Eufy.
Preview Phase Launches Without Public Timeline
The updated integration features are currently rolling out in a preview phase, giving select users early access to test the cross-brand routing capabilities.
