The Iowa Economic Development authority (IEDA) recently approved key investments poised to stimulate economic growth and enhance quality of life across the state. These projects span manufacturing, tourism, and food production, demonstrating Iowa’s diverse economic landscape.
American Packaging Corp. Expands Story City Facility
American Packaging corp. is embarking on a important expansion of its Story City facility, signaling a commitment to Iowa and its workforce. The company plans a $7.8 million investment encompassing a 20,000-square-foot addition and the acquisition of cutting-edge equipment.
This expansion will directly create 25 new jobs. Thirteen of these positions are incentivized at a competitive wage of $33.67 per hour. The IEDA has awarded American Packaging Corp. tax benefits through the High Quality Jobs program, including $100,000 in investment tax credits and a $95,000 sales and use tax refund.
Story City is further supporting the project with a local tax abatement. Construction is slated to begin this month, with completion anticipated in September 2026. This expansion will allow the company to increase its production of flexible pouches and bags, serving industries ranging from pet care to lawn care.
Founded in 1902, American Packaging Corp. has a rich history. Initially established in Philadelphia, the company relocated to Columbus, Wisconsin, in 1972. The Story City flexographic printing center, opened in 1997, marked a period of sustained growth for the company.
Boosting Local Recreation with a Splashpad in Tabor
The city of Tabor will receive a $90,000 grant from the IEDA to construct a splashpad at its city park. This project, with a total cost of $326,848, will provide a valuable recreational amenity for residents and visitors alike. Located 40 miles southeast of Omaha, Nebraska, Tabor is investing in its community’s well-being.
Daisy Brand Facility Receives Contract extension
Daisy brand has requested a 30-day extension to its contract with the IEDA. This pertains to the company’s planned $626.57 million facility in Boone. In April 2024, Daisy Brand was awarded $67.185 million in state and local incentives for this project.
