Angolan companies with debt of 138 billion kwanzas to INSS –

They are public and private companies, from different sectors and sizes, which owe the National Social Security Institute (INSS) more than 138 billion kwanzas, relating to the contributions of their workers, who never deposited with that institution.

Some of these companies deducted the corresponding amount from their employees’ salaries and others do not deduct or deposit it to the INSS.

This situation has been creating problems for employees who, after retirement, are unable to take advantage of the retirement benefits to which they are entitled.

The INSS director, Samuel Mulaza, said that the institution has been summoning companies in this condition, in order to force them to pay, which has already allowed the recovery of 4.3 billion kwanzas. This value corresponds to 906 taxpayers.

“We still have a debt to be settled, which we are working on, in excess of 138 billion kwanzas,” he said.

The General Secretary of UNTA-CS, Filomena Soares, understands that this situation endangers the lives of active workers.

The solution, according to the person responsible, “is through the formalization of the national economy”.

Filomena Soares even said that there are many complaints from workers affiliated to trade union confederations who complain about their inclusion in social security.
