During this session, chaired by the mayor of Tangier, Mounir Laymouri, the Council presented a report on its activities, before examining and approving the amendment of the council’s internal regulations, the reprogramming of canceled expenses, as well as the provision of financial support to sports clubs and teams for the year 2024.

In the area of ​​town planning and properties, the council approved the planning of the limits of public roads, the expropriation of real estate necessary for the extension of the Bouhout cemetery, the withdrawal of two plots of land in the Tanja district Balia of the municipal public domain and include them in the municipal private domain for a possible transfer, the acquisition of land in the districts of Branes and Mesnana for the realization of municipal projects, as well as an authorization for temporary occupation of a plot of land falling within the municipal domain in the Ghandiuri district for the benefit of the private sector.

The Council also approved partnership agreements with the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Preschool and Sports (Sports Department) and the Union of Tangier Associations for Athletics, as well as partnership agreements to support the Cap Spartel International Film Festival, the Tangier National Film Festival, the Tangier International Poetry Festival and the Tangier Performing Arts Festival, in addition to a partnership agreement with associations in the cooperatives of Tangier.

This session was also punctuated by the approval of the creation of the Municipal Children’s Council and a citizens’ office, as well as partnership agreements for the financing and implementation of the airport development and extension project. of Tangier Ibn Battouta, the construction of a multidisciplinary social center for the benefit of people with disabilities who are deprived of their families, the extension of the camera surveillance network in public spaces and its maintenance, as well as for the financing and implementation of the second program to strengthen and restore buildings threatening ruin in the medina of Tangier for the period 2024-2027.

The Council also gave the green light to the adhesion of the municipality of Tangier to the network of Strong Cities and to the “ANMAR” Federation of Local Authorities of Northern Morocco and Andalusia, as well as to the updating of agreements with the municipalities of Vitoria and Palma de Mallorca in Spain, in addition to the approval of a memorandum of understanding with the municipality of Gibraltar.
