Playback singer AR Ameen was involved in a car accident in Chennai during the early hours of Monday, August 10, 2026. The collision occurred around 3:30 am near the Olympia Tech Park signal in the Guindy area, as Ameen travelled along Jawaharlal Nehru Road toward the airport.
Initial reports circulated conflicting details regarding the crash, prompting swift clarifications from the artist’s family. Music composer and singer Khatija Rahman took to social media to address the incident, assuring fans that Ameen was safe and correcting inaccurate claims about who was behind the wheel.

Khatija Rahman detailed the sequence of events on Instagram Stories, explaining that her brother was not driving the vehicle at the time of the collision.

Khatija Rahman stated via Instagram Stories that Ameen was on his way to the airport, seated in the passenger seat, while his friend was driving, and that after a driver in another vehicle ahead of them moved forward despite a red signal resulting in a minor collision, Ameen, his friend, and the occupant of the other vehicle were all safe by God’s grace.
Ameen also issued a statement confirming that he sustained only minor injuries. He expressed gratitude to family members, friends, and well-wishers who reached out after learning of the accident.
AR Ameen, playback singer, recounted that on the way to the airport yesterday, he was in the passenger seat of his friend’s car when they got into a minor accident, adding that by God’s grace everyone involved was safe and okay, and offering all praises to the Almighty (EPI) for His grace and protection over all of them.

The collision took place on Jawaharlal Nehru Road, a major arterial route also known as the Inner Ring Road. According to police and local reporting, Ameen’s vehicle collided with a cab near the Olympia Tech Park area.

Following the impact, Ameen and his friend were taken to a private medical facility for examination and subsequently discharged to return home. A passenger travelling in the other vehicle involved in the crash received treatment at the Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital before also being discharged.
Officers with the Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing took the vehicles into custody and registered a case regarding the incident. Investigators are reviewing area CCTV footage, examining how the vehicles collided, and gathering statements from both drivers and vehicle occupants to establish the full sequence of events.
