Datuk Seri dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, Chairman of the PSC, affirmed that the appointment process is being conducted systematically and efficiently, with interim appointments already serving as a pathway to permanent roles. “The government has recommended an expedited process, and we are fully committed to delivering on that expectation,” he stated at the opening of the PSC’s new interview center at the Ipoh Urban Transformation Centre (UTC).

The announcement follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s commitment to offer permanent positions to 4,500 contract doctors, a move widely welcomed by the medical community. The PSC has already made significant headway, recently confirming over 3,000 nurses to permanent roles, encompassing both new appointments and the confirmation of those previously holding interim positions.
A key element of the streamlined process is the removal of arbitrary service period requirements. ”Any candidate meeting the established criteria will be directly appointed to a permanent position without unnecessary hurdles,” Dr. Ahmad Jailani explained.This signifies a departure from previous practices and a commitment to recognizing the value and contributions of qualified healthcare professionals. Interim appointments will continue to be a stepping stone, transitioning to permanent status upon accomplished completion of the assessment process and fulfillment of all PSC requirements.
