Avatar: The Last Airbender will get two more seasons. The third series of the live action series will also be the last.

The streaming service Netflix announced this. The first season was released on February 22 and was widely viewed despite mixed reactions.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is about a world in which some people can control one of the four elements (water, earth, air and fire). Main character Aang, the Avatar, is the only one who controls all four elements. Gordon Cormier, Daniel Dae Kim and Ian Ousley, among others, play roles in the series.

There was uproar and disappointment among fans when creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko resigned in 2020. They felt that Netflix gave them too little control. “It’s not about whether we get our way. Not all ideas have to come from us. As long as we feel those ideas are in line with the spirit and integrity of Avatar“, Konietzko wrote on Instagram at the time.

The first series on Netflix consisted of eight episodes. It is not yet known how many episodes the second and third seasons will have. Nothing is known yet about a possible release date.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a live-action remake of the animated series that aired on Nickelodeon. The original animated series aired from 2005 and also had three seasons. The series was adapted into a film in 2010.
