Fast-Tracking the Belgian Winger Into Hansi Flick’s Squad
Rather than placing the teenager into the reserve setup or academy ranks, Barcelona intends to fast-track him into the senior squad. Bisiwu is expected to travel to England immediately to join manager Hansi Flick and the rest of the team during their pre-season camp.
The timeline leaves open the possibility for Bisiwu to make an unofficial first-team appearance on August 8. That match is scheduled during a triangular tournament in Italy featuring Udinese and Nottingham Forest. The club statement noted that the player will be presented officially at the Club offices in the near future.
Youth Career and International Pedigree
Born on January 22, 2008, into a family of Ghanaian origin, Bisiwu built his reputation on pace, strength, and dribbling ability. His youth career began at Leuven in 2014 before he moved to the Club Brugge academy in 2020. Over the past two seasons, he featured in the UEFA Youth League, scoring 3 goals across 14 matches. He also logged 36 appearances for Club NXT, the club’s reserve side in the Belgian second division, beginning his tenure there in 2023 at just 15 years old.
On the international stage, Bisiwu caught attention at the 2025 European Under-17 Championship. He led Belgium to the semi-finals and earned a spot in the team of the tournament. His arrival in Spain makes him the third Belgian player to join Barcelona’s first team, following in the footsteps of Thomas Vermaelen and Jan Goijvaerts.
