Bas Muijs, who was taken hostage and abused last year, finds a lot of distraction in his work and family. In conversation with The Telegraph the 47-year-old soap actor says that this is his focus.

“My work gives me distraction,” says Muijs, who is in Good times Bad Times plays the role of Stefano Sanders. “That’s what I want to concentrate on. I don’t want to think about the dramatic incident anymore. My focus now is on my family, they are the most important thing and I want to focus on them above all. We need rest.”

Muijs was lured to Arnhem under false pretenses in March 2023. The actor thought he would meet a sick fan there. In his statement, Muijs says that a man and a woman were waiting for him there and then abused him.

The man is said to have shot the actor with a nail gun and held him in a choke position. Muijs was also said to have been punched and kicked. The actor was allegedly forced to say on camera that he raped his ex-girlfriend. The suspect threatened to share these images online if Muijs did not pay him tens of thousands of euros.

Muijs managed to convince the man to take him to the hospital for his injuries. Hospital staff then called the police. The suspect was immediately arrested.

He is due in court on September 12, as is the woman who was present during the incident. The man is suspected of attempted manslaughter. He may await the case in freedom.
