Bay Path to Modernize Chemistry Labs with Massachusetts Life Sciences Center Grant

Bay Path University has secured $374,222 through the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s Postsecondary Education and Training Grant Program to upgrade its chemistry laboratories with industry-standard scientific instrumentation. The funding, part of a broader statewide initiative distributing more than $12.3 million across 68 organizations, aims to strengthen education and career preparation in the life sciences sector throughout the Commonwealth.

The grant will enable the Longmeadow-based university to acquire advanced technology typically found in professional and research settings, including a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, an infrared spectrometer, and a high-performance liquid chromatography system. These additions are designed to expand hands-on learning opportunities for undergraduate students pursuing degrees in biology, forensic science, medical science, and other science-related disciplines.
