Dimitar Berbatov, as well as Stiliyan Petrov and Martin Petrov, who are part of his eip, end up in the battle for the presidency of the Bulgarian Football Union.

Their team lost to Georgi Ivanov – Gonzo in the first round, with the former Levski forward selected in the first round of the extraordinary congress.

In an interview after the vote, Stiliyan was most adamant that he was done with Bulgarian football, and Berbatov congratulated the new president and wished him success.

“Mr. Ivanov has declared himself the Executive Committee, I will be with Dimitar Berbatov until the end. I want to congratulate Georgi Ivanov and wish him success. We are real and it is clear that we want to work for Bulgarian football. Stiliyan Petrov has come this far with Bulgarian football! Stiliyan Petrov will not be in Bulgarian football. I want to thank the whole team of Dimitar. There are people who want to look for something different. We can be proud that we stood with our faces and our names remain clean. For three years we have been fighting with the problems in the BFS”, said Stiliyan Petrov.

“This is the will of the clubs and we have to respect it. Whether we like it is another matter. There is no point in trying because we have to give time to the new president. I will watch from the sidelines and hope that things go in the right direction. This, which depended on us, we did it. Whenever you lose a fight it’s normal and it’s not nice. In a certain period we will analyze what we did. The clubs have identified their candidate and he is Georgi Ivanov. He is part of the management of BFS and clearly the trend of no change continues. But we will find out later. There is nothing to regret. Wherever we go, people will greet us with a smile. We have tried to go in a different direction managerially. Everyone has a different life. Court battles are tiring everyone. The new president should be given a chance. I understand the frustration, some wanted it to be us.”, said Berbatov.

“My opinion is like that of Stiliyan. I have been this far. And a request to all of you, the journalists, from now on do not look for me to comment on Bulgarian football. We tried to make a change in these three years, we gave our best. -it was easy for us to look on the sidelines. And all the people, the public, and some of you, who were begging us to take this fight, we decided to do it. We tried the right, legal, honest way. I’m glad, that any such doubts have been dispelled. Let’s see what happens, we’ll give it time.” Martin Petrov added bitterly.
