“We had bad influences, and… drugs and pills within reach,” Borg writes. “Ther, I was plunged into the deepest darkness.”
His addiction culminated in a frightening incident in 1996. Borg collapsed on a bridge in the Netherlands while preparing for an exhibition tournament. The memory remains deeply painful.
“He said nothing, it was so embarrassing,” Borg recalled on the swedish television show Skavlan, referring to his father’s presence at his hospital bedside. “I was terribly ashamed.”

“The risk of it coming back still exists,” Borg states, “and it’s somthing I will have to live with for a while, with the anxiety of not knowing… if the cancer was caught in time.”
Regular check-ups every six months are now a part of his life, ensuring early detection of any potential return. despite this, Borg maintains a commitment to his health. He emphasizes his daily exercise routine, though admits he hasn’t played tennis competitively in six years.
