Blue Jays Invite Five Players to Spring Training
The Toronto Blue Jays have invited outfielder Eloy Jimenez, infielder Carlos
Mendoza, left-handed pitcher michael Plassmeyer, right-handed pitcher Jorge
Alcala, and infielder Rafael Lantigua to spring training, as the team
prepares for the 2026 season.
Eloy Jimenez
Jimenez, 29, won the Silver Slugger Award with the
Chicago White Sox
in 2020 and played for the Buffalo Bisons (Triple-A) in 2025, the
Blue Jays’ affiliate.He finished fourth in the American League Rookie of
the Year voting in 2019, batting.267 with 31 home runs. Last season, he
averaged .238 with six home runs in 98 games with the White Sox and the
Baltimore Orioles
. Throughout his 534 career games,Jimenez has a .269 batting average with
95 home runs.
Carlos Mendoza
Mendoza, 25, batted .287 with seven home runs and
