Coatzacoalcos Judo Athletes Prepare for State Selective Tournament

Judo athletes from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, are gearing up for the State Selective tournament, a crucial step towards qualifying for the CONADE 2026 National Olympiad. The competition will be held on January 31st at the University Gymnasium in Xalapa, Veracruz. A delegation of 56 students representing various local dojos will participate.

Participating Dojos and Coaching Staff

The Coatzacoalcos delegation includes athletes from Instituto BOGA, Jushinkan, Calmecac, Universidad de Sotavento dojo, and Kodokan. The coaching team comprises experienced senseis:

  • Alejandro Borrego (BOGA)

  • Daniel Mil (Universidad de Sotavento)
  • Román Pérez (Kodokan),who will also serve as the delegate.

Competition Details

The judokas will compete in the Under 15, Under 18, and Under 21 age categories for both male and female divisions. Athletes have been diligently training at the Kodokan school facilities, including beach workouts to enhance their agility and dexterity, scheduled for this Saturday at 8:00 a.m. The contingent will travel to Xalapa on January 30th to prepare for the competition the following day.
