Brad Paisley‘s World Series Streak: When Music Meets Extra Innings
Country music star Brad Paisley is quickly becoming a good luck charm – or perhaps a harbinger of marathon games – for baseball fans. His national anthem performances have a curious connection to extended World Series contests, and the latest game only cemented his unique streak.
It marked the fourth time Paisley’s performance preceded extra innings. Previously, his anthems led to nail-biting finishes in Los Angeles during Game 2 of 2017 (11 innings), Game 3 of 2018 (a whopping 18 innings), and Game 1 of 2024 (10 innings). This most recent performance also contributed to one of the longest World Series games in history, stretching to 18 innings.
“Last night, around the 16th inning, I was thinking ‘There’s no way this is happening again,'” Paisley shared recently.He described staring in disbelief as the game finally concluded, questioning the importance of the pattern. It wasn’t until statisticians began compiling the data that the extent of his “extra innings effect” became clear.
Paisley jokingly offered his services to other sports.”I’m available for football games, too,” he quipped. “If anybody wants another quarter or two out of their team, you know where to find me.”
He’s even suggested a new nickname for himself: “Mr.More Baseball.”
A Costly All-Nighter & Star-Studded Support
The extended game proved challenging for the Dodgers, but it guarantees the World Series will now shift to Toronto. Game 4 drew a significant celebrity crowd,including Prince Harry and meghan Markle,LeBron and Savannah James,Donald Glover,and Tinashe,all showing their support.
The night before, a video of Justin Bieber, decked out in Toronto Blue Jays gear, whent viral. The clip showed the singer’s playful reaction – a thumbs-down - to one of Shohei Ohtani’s home runs, adding another layer of entertainment to the already exciting series.
