“But I consumed like last year”

A bill expensive to say the least: 2,452 euros of gas for identical consumption to the previous year when the invoice issued by the manager was just over 600 euros. A reason that pushed Mrs. Maria, a pensioner from Padua, to contact Federcontribuenti and challenge the bill which refers to consumption for the two-month period December 2023-January 2024.

The woman, the association explains, is protecting herself since the December bill was then canceled the following month by the supplier, but it recurred 30 days later. “We are at a boomerang – explains Marco Paccagnella, national president of Federcontribuenti, who told the story during a press conference – and unfortunately Mrs Maria’s case is by no means an isolated case”. As mentioned above, according to the woman – as reported by Federcontribuenti – the gas consumption would have been the same as the previous year, with a sum to be paid which however turned out to be four times higher.

According to Paccagnella, there are “thousands” of people throughout Italy who turn to our offices to report what is happening. Consumption identical to last year but bills inflated by 4 or 5 times on average, which means taking families by the neck We say to everyone: don’t pay in installments, contest the bills and take them to the conciliation bodies because what we are witnessing is no longer sustainable. We need to act.”
