The Spaniard has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will undergo surgery this Friday or, at the latest if he returns to Spain, on Saturday. For the third free and the rest of the week it will be Oliver Bearman, reserve driver of the team and who is competing in F2, also with victory in the classification, during this week. The change was officially announced by both Ferrari and Formula 1 through their social networks and the Briton also knows the simulator layout, although he has never done it in a real way with an F1.

Carlos went better this Thursday to the hotel after spending a more or less peaceful day, although he was still tired. It seemed that the medications were taking effect. But he had a very bad night from Thursday to Friday, his fever did not go down.. That is why he went to the hospital early this Friday to find out the reason behind that fever.

They did tests and detected, in addition to food poisoning, appendicitis. He has not yet decided where to have the operation, whether he will do it in Saudi Arabia or in Spain. In any case, the Spaniard must undergo surgery as soon as possible so that it does not lead to peritonitis. In the first race, Sainz had been third after the Red Bull en Bahrein.

Two years ago something similar happened to the pilot Alex Albon. He felt unwell at the Italian Grand Prix and underwent emergency surgery for the same reason, appendicitis which also later added a slight respiratory complication during the operation.
