tbi bank announced today that it is making the euro more accessible to Bulgarians by becoming the first bank to refuse to profit from the buy/sell rate when exchanging leva into euros and instead offers the official BNB exchange rate – about 9 months before the planned adoption of the euro . The bank’s customers can take advantage of this service in the tbi bank app, completely digitally at any part of the day.

If until now, for every BGN 1,000 exchanged in euros, Bulgarians lose about BGN 6 from the exchange rate, now with tbi they will be able to save this expense. Looking at the bigger picture, according to recent data, Bulgaria loses about BGN 500 million annually from currency conversion.

The bank’s decision is based on its strong belief in Bulgaria’s readiness to join the Eurozone and its desire to support Bulgarians in the transition period. For this reason, as part of its vision for everyday banking without fees, tbi bank has eliminated another cost, providing even more added value and convenience to its customers.

“We know that the topic of joining the Eurozone causes a number of discussions as well as concerns among Bulgarians. For this reason, we want to give them peace of mind by providing the fairest offer to exchange their money and allow them to benefit from the advantages of the euro from now at no additional cost,” shared Lucas Tursa, executive director at tbi bank.

Along with the possibility of exchanging leva into euros according to the BNB fixing, the daily banking service package of tbi bank also provides many additional advantages such as a current account without a monthly fee, free instant transfers in leva and euros, utility payments without a fee, the possibility of interest-free installment payments, as well as some of the best interest rates on deposits (up to 3.2%).
