7-ELEVEN Taiwan has officially launched a new merchandise campaign featuring the popular Japanese manga and anime series Chiikawa. Starting July 22, customers can participate in a “flash purchase” event to acquire a wide range of branded items, while also accessing exclusive themed beverage cups available at select retail locations.
The convenience store chain is leveraging this popularity by offering 27 distinct items, ranging from daily household goods to stationary and lifestyle accessories, designed to appeal to both casual shoppers and dedicated collectors of the franchise.
Campaign Mechanics and Merchandise Scope
According to company promotional materials, the collection includes 27 different types of merchandise.
These cups are tied to specific beverage purchases, incentivizing foot traffic into physical stores.
Broader Franchise Presence in Taiwan
The 7-ELEVEN initiative is part of a wider surge in Chiikawa-related commercial activity across Taiwan. The brand’s presence has expanded significantly in recent months, with multiple retailers and entertainment entities capitalizing on the franchise’s intellectual property. For instance, the release of the character’s first feature-length film has prompted collaborations with major apparel retailers like UNIQLO, which recently introduced a “movie version” UT collection. These initiatives often include consumer incentives such as limited-edition shopping bags or character-themed packaging to boost engagement.
Other major chains are simultaneously launching their own Japanese-inspired promotions. For example, FamilyMart has recently integrated aspects of the Japanese “FAMIMA” brand into its local stores, including aggressive discounting on soft-serve ice cream products to maintain market share. These moves represent a broader trend of Japanese pop culture integration into the daily retail experience for Taiwanese consumers.
International Collector Interest
Beyond the convenience store circuit, interest in Chiikawa merchandise extends to the “Ichiban Kuji” (一番賞) lottery system, a popular Japanese hobbyist activity. Fans are currently tracking the release of the “Chiikawa and Summer Memories” (吉伊卡哇與夏日回憶) series, scheduled for distribution in Japan beginning July 25. This collection features 18 distinct prize tiers, including specialized items like a character-themed somen noodle slider and various plush figures.
