The Nothing Phone (2a) will be unveiled on March 5. As we have seen before with the brand, there have already been the necessary teasers and hints. However, Nothing wants to debunk some rumors with the revelation about the chipset.

Nothing posted a video on February 19, 2024 that shares some information about the chipset. Just before a product marketing manager can name which chipset is in the Nothing Phone (2a), the video is shortened. A date then appears on the screen: February 20, 2024. The video does not tell much new, but the quote tweet that CEO Carl Pei places on the video does. This one reads “Spoiler alert! Not the Dimensity 7200”. A rumor that went around a lot was that the Nothing Phone (2a), a more affordable Nothing Phone, would contain a Dimensity 7200.
Nothing has just announced at 11:00 Dutch time which processor is in the Phone (2a): the Dimensity 7200 Pro. The brand developed this together with MediaTek to offer “the best performance with optimal battery consumption”. The chipset contains eight processor cores and has clock speeds of up to 2.8 GHz. There is also up to 20GB of RAM thanks to RAM Booster technology.
How exactly that works and whether it is noticeable while you use the smartphone remains to be seen. According to Nothing, the Phone (2a) is therefore 18 percent more powerful than the Phone (1) and 16 percent more economical.
What we know about the Nothing Phone (2a) so far
March 5 is still a few weeks away and there are still plenty of rumors going around about the device. The Nothing Phone (2a) will probably have a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, with a refresh rate of 120Hz. You can soon choose from 8 or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage.
On the back there is a camera setup with two cameras, both 50 megapixels. This probably concerns a wide-angle lens and a main camera. The smartphone will also have the option to charge at 45 watts.
If we can believe the rumors, you pay a suggested retail price of 349 euros for the Nothing Phone (2a). For that price tag you get the entry-level model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. If you want to go a step further, you pay 399 euros for a version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
