Preliminary data show that in the last three evaluated weeks (SE) 7, 8 and 9, 589 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed, evidencing a slight decrease in relation to previous weeks.

64% of the identified cases are concentrated in the population between 20 and 39 years old, 20% are registered in the age group of 60 years and over, and 16% in the group between 0 and 19 years old.

Seven weeks of sustained decline in cases are reported in all health regions, which coincides with the low number of samples processed.

According to the Risk Map, all departments of the country have low community transmission, Level 1. Despite this decrease, it is important to maintain prevention measures to avoid infections.

In the last three weeks, 59 hospitalized and 7 deaths from COVID-19 were also reported, according to partial data. The majority of deaths (75%) correspond to people over 60 years of age, with comorbidities.

Vaccination against COVID-19

The application of the annual vaccine against COVID-19 is recommended to reduce the risk of hospitalizations and deaths associated with the virus, mainly for risk groups, people with comorbidities and adults over 60 years of age.

The annual vaccine is available in all vaccination centers in the country, it is indicated for the population, from 6 months of age onwards.

To prevent infections

•Anyone with respiratory symptoms should wear a face mask appropriately. Its use is also key when going to health facilities. The mask should not be removed when coughing or sneezing.

•Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Discard the tissue and then sanitize your hands. If you do not have a tissue, cover your cough or sneeze with the inner flex of your elbow, never with your hand, in order to reduce the dispersion of droplets and aerosols, as well as the contamination of surfaces.

•Wash your hands correctly and frequently.

•Ventilate the rooms

•Avoid coming into close contact with people who show signs of respiratory illness such as coughing or sneezing.
