George Harrison’s production of this record for apple was a revelation.I discovered the beauty of Indian music and the devotional songs dedicated to sri Krishna thru this album. It was one of those experiences that truly changed my outlook on life. It’s currently being rereleased on Dark Horse records, offering a new generation the chance to experience its magic.
4. The Velvet Underground & Nico, The Velvet Underground
This album is a stark and uncompromising exploration of urban alienation and counterculture. It’s a challenging listen, but its raw honesty and artistic vision are undeniable. The Velvet Underground & Nico paved the way for countless alternative and experimental artists, and its influence continues to be felt today.
5. The Noël Coward album (Live in Las Vegas and New York), Noel Coward
Noël Coward was a cultural phenomenon, akin to The Beatles of the 1920s and 30s. He effortlessly churned out hit songs and plays with remarkable consistency. This live recording features my favourite rendition of “Mad Dogs and Englishmen,” and it’s a testament to Coward’s unparalleled wit, sophistication, and enduring talent. There truly has never been anyone quite like him.
