This initiative, originating from U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Israeli counterpart Amir Ohana, has been underway for several months. according to a report by Deník N, the request arrived at both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

Tomio Okamura of the SPD (Freedom and Direct Democracy) confirmed to Deník N that the request had been received by the Chamber of Deputies. Miloš Vystrčil, President of the Senate (ODS - Civic Democratic Party), stated that he did not utilize the opportunity to join the initiative.
The initiative, as outlined in a letter from Speaker Johnson, highlights the U.S. President’s long-standing commitment to peace, dialog, and diplomacy throughout their public service. A letter circulated in late 2024 to Nobel Peace Prize committee members emphasized this point.
Following the initial outreach, the U.S. side began requesting support from parliamentary leaders worldwide, and the Czech Republic was among those contacted.
