Therefore, the former Barcelona player should be “provisionally released”, five days after the court ordered his arrest on bail and after 14 months behind bars, writes ABC.

Dani Alves, who played for FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, among others, was accused of raping the young woman in the bathroom of the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona in December 2022, although the player, who remains imprisoned for 14 months, has presented different versions of what happened, has argued that the relationships were consensual.

The prosecution had asked for nine years in prison as well as the payment of 150 thousand euros to the victim and freedom under supervision for 10 years after leaving prison.

The victim’s defense criticized the decision to release Dani Alves on bail of one million euros, saying that this measure presupposes that there is “justice for the rich”.
