Forward Kaspars Daugaviņš and defenseman Kristofers Bindulis have joined the training of the Latvian men’s hockey team, the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) informs.

The Slovakian team Michalovce “Dukla”, represented by both hockey players, lost 2-4 to “Nitra” in the playoffs of the Slovakian extra league.

Daugavins, who was the captain of the Mihalovce team, scored 11 goals and had 43 assists in 47 matches in the regular championship and collected 11 (5+6) points in 11 “play-off” games.

On the other hand, Bindulis scored seven (2+5) points in 32 games in the main tournament, but in the playoffs he scored a goal and assisted three times.

In the beginning of the training camp, the Latvian hockey players played two test matches with Austria, celebrating the victory in both with 3:2 in the shootouts, but last week the Latvians lost to the Finns twice with 2:3.

The Latvian national team is scheduled to play six test matches at home and two away this spring. On April 26 and 27, the guests will play against Switzerland, and on May 3 and 4, the Latvians will meet Norway at home.

All test matches of the Latvian national team can be watched live on the TV6 channel.

In the Latvian national team, the head coach Harijs Vītoliņš is assisted by coaches Lauris Dārziņš, Artūrs Irbe, Petri Nummelins, Ville Peltonens, Raimonds Vilkoits, video coach Pēteris Groms and physical training specialist Āriks Visockis.

The Latvian national team will go to the world championship in the Czech Republic on May 9.

The 2024 championship will take place in Prague and Ostrava from May 10 to 26.
