The continuation of the story

The blacksmith’s son Heinrich returns. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set in the Year of the Lord 1403 and continues the story where the first part left off. He began his adventure in search of revenge in the world of knights and dynasties.

A world full of secrets

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, however, you don’t just have to expect appropriate dialogues from NPCs. This time, Henry will also be able to save the world or even, if you want, punish him for its sins. No matter which path you choose, be aware that your decisions will have an impact on the characters and the gameplay.

Looking for revenge

His family was slaughtered in an attack by aggressive troops in his hometown, which is why he seeks revenge. This was already discussed in part 1, but initially everything revolved around Henry’s rise from nobody to knight-squire. In part 2 the actual conflict is taken up again. Loud Warhorse You don’t necessarily have to have played part 1 to understand everything, on the contrary: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 also seems to be ideal for getting started in the Kingdom Come universe.

That’s what Warhorse’s proud twin explains in one go Interview mit IGN. «KCD2 takes place directly after the events of KCD1; However, it is not necessary to know the first game to fully enjoy the sequel. While long-time fans will feel right at home, we’ve gone to great lengths to add enough information and guidance to get new players up to speed.”

New landscape, same engine

Players are encouraged by Warhorse to explore every dark corner or region in detail. The landscape is said to be full of secrets and dangers. This includes the already known medieval fights and even new weapons such as a crossbow. Away from the countryside, players primarily explore Kutná Hora, a real silver mining town that was mentioned several times in the original game.

CryEngine instead of Unreal Engine 5

In an interview with IGN Stolz-Zwilling further explained why they stayed with CryEngine and didn’t switch to Unreal Engine 5. The simple answer is that this decision was made based on internal pipelines. The CryEngine offers the studio exactly what it needs and is therefore a good choice.

“I’m sure it’s very different from what you’d call a ‘CryEngine’, and yet we’re glad to have it – it does what we need. Looking at the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance, I truly believe the game has aged extremely well visually, thanks to the engine.”

New weapons and revised combat system

The not-so-simple combat system of the first part met with resistance from many players. Through the star system and the correct handling of the sword, the developers added a special and unique twist instead of relying on the typical get-it-yourself mentality. Now promises Warhorse Studiosto have overhauled the combat system for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

“It is important to say that we are staying true to what KCD and Warhorse stand for, and that is an attempt to portray real medieval combat. That said, we made some changes to the combat system and tried to make it more accessible without losing the realistic feel. We want the fights to feel hard and difficult, but also easy to handle. You should feel the weight of your weapon and every hit you land.”

New weapons – crossbows and gunpowder

The developers are still rather reserved when it comes to information regarding the weapons. However, what is already known is that new weapons will appear in the game. For example, crossbows or early gunpowder weapons will be available in the game. However, the extent to which this happens is not yet known.

What will Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 be like?

As is often the case, it is impossible to say at this point what the game will ultimately be like. The first part had its rough edges, and whether the developers have ironed them out in the second part will only become clear when we can finally play the new game in our library. However, the game looks promising and we are excited to see what the sequel to Heinrich will be like.
