Delivery Driver Abducts Cat, Sparking Police Investigation and Community Concern
A shocking incident has left a California woman desperately searching for her beloved cat after a delivery driver was caught on camera seemingly stealing the pet. The unsettling event, captured on a home security system, has prompted a police investigation and a swift response from Amazon.
Moments before the incident, the homeowner, Diane Huff-Medina, heard her cat, Piper, meowing. Then, the delivery driver unexpectedly picked up Piper and quickly left the property.
“I initially thought he was simply petting her,” Huff-Medina explained. “Though, after reviewing the footage multiple times, it became clear he was taking her, and not in a caring manner.”
The dark footage made it arduous to fully discern the driver’s actions, adding to the homeowner’s distress. She instantly filed a police report and contacted Amazon to report the disturbing event.
Amazon quickly responded,stating the individual was an autonomous contractor utilizing their own vehicle for deliveries. They have as removed the driver from their delivery network due to their inability to locate him.
“We sincerely apologize to Ms. Huff-Medina for this unacceptable act,” a company spokesperson stated. “We are fully cooperating with the Los angeles County sheriff’s office in their ongoing investigation.”
As of December 16th, Piper remains missing, and the community is rallying to support the search. Huff-Medina shared a heartfelt plea on Facebook: “We just want her back home safely.”
