Singer-songwriter Dikshant has steadily built a reputation for emotionally resonant music. His 2022 hit, “Aankhon Se Batana,” cemented his ability too capture the nuances of romance.Now, wiht his latest four-track EP, Aakhri Baat, Dikshant delves into a different emotional landscape – one marked by heartbreak, loss, and the complexities of the human experience.
This EP represents a shift from his earlier, more uplifting work.It’s a testament to his willingness to explore vulnerability and share deeply personal stories through his art. Facing Vulnerability and Finding Catharsis
Dikshant doesn’t shy away from the challenge. He views suffering as an inherent part of life, echoing the wisdom of Buddha. He acknowledges the difficulty of exposing his most private emotions, those typically reserved for a close circle.
However, he finds solace and purpose in songwriting. It provides a crucial outlet for expression, a channel to process and share experiences that might otherwise remain bottled up. “It’s definitely not easy to put those emotions out there, but I’m grateful that songwriting provides a channel for that expression,” he explains.
The Weight of ‘Aakhri Baat’ – More Than Just Heartbreak
The EP’s title track is especially poignant. It isn’t simply about romantic heartbreak, but rather the profound grief of saying goodbye – specifically, witnessing the final moments of an elderly couple in an ICU. Dikshant masterfully translates this experience into sound.
The song begins with a deliberate, drawn-out sigh, symbolizing the last breath. Wistful piano and guitars build into orchestral arrangements, creating a cinematic and deeply moving atmosphere.He intentionally incorporates heartbeat-like beeps,representing the fragility of life,culminating in a flatline that signifies the ultimate farewell.
production Choices: Raw Emotion Meets Cinematic Sound
Dikshant collaborated with producer Nabeel Zubair to achieve a delicate balance. They aimed for a sound that was both raw and intimate, yet also possessed a cinematic quality. This is evident in their decision to retain the initial scratch recording of the title track, preserving its authenticity.
The EP showcases a range of emotional textures:

* “Ae Dil” is a simple, heartfelt ode to the complexities of the human heart.

He also introduced live-recorded violins for the first time, adding depth and emotional resonance. Ultimately, he sought to create music that felt like ”home” – vulnerable, genuine, and reflective of his true self.

With Aakhri Baat released, Dikshant is already looking ahead.He’s eager to experiment with different musical styles and push his creative boundaries. He’s also planning a four-city tour for his devoted fanbase, affectionately known as Humrahis.
