An Australian police officer has been charged with the double murder of a TV presenter and her boyfriend, both a gay couple, who were reported mysteriously missing over the weekend. The location of the bodies of the two victims in this murder case is not yet known.

As reported AFPFriday (23/2/2024), Australian Police Detective Inspector, Danny Doherty, announced that a 28-year-old police officer had been charged with two counts of murder, after authorities carried out a major search operation over the last three days.

“Indictments have been filed for two counts of murder,” Doherty said in a statement.

Earlier this week, the discovery of blood-stained clothing in a large rubbish bin by a member of the public in suburban Sydney led police detectives to search the residence of former red carpet presenter and entertainment journalist Jesse Baird (26).

While searching Baird’s inner-city Sydney apartment, detectives found “a large amount of blood”. They also said they had “grave concerns” for Baird and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies.

A bullet found at the scene was determined to match the firearm issued by police. The weapon was found in a safe at a local police station.

The policeman, charged with two murders, was arrested after handing himself in at Bondi police station, located near Sydney’s famous beach. The policeman is still in custody.
