Last Sunday, Linda de Mol (59) was ready again with her suitcases to hand out major prizes. Candidate John was in the final and had a chance to win millions, but that dream quickly fell apart after things immediately went completely wrong.

“This is just almost beautiful”

John is completely ready for the final game and hopes to go home with a nice amount of money. He has already decided what he would like to do with the money. “I want to build up a nice pension, a pot for my old age. And of course something for the children.”

When John opens his very first suitcase, he says with confidence: “Just do four.” When opening the suitcase, the suitcase girl peeks into the suitcase and immediately makes a difficult face. John appears to have immediately fished out the five million. “This is almost amazing. Just get five million out of the first one,” says Linda in amazement.

John also can hardly believe his eyes, but he can still laugh despite the setback. “If I had to do this in advance, I would never have known.” After a brief moment of disappointment, John has to open the next suitcase and that’s where things go completely wrong again. Immediately after he has played away the five million, John now also plays away the two million. “No. Is it going to be one of those evenings?” Linda calls out in panic.

And that indeed appears to be the case. After John opens five suitcases, almost all of his millions are out of the game. “Oh, I’m so sorry about this,” says Linda. But John remains optimistic. “It could be a lot worse.”

After the first round, John fortunately manages to recover and plays many low amounts from the game. “It’s a completely different story,” Linda exclaims enthusiastically. He eventually receives an offer of 117,000 euros which he accepts. It turns out that his own suitcase only contained 100 euros, so John really got his money’s worth in the end. “Good deal.”
