WALL – AK Party Şanlıurfa Deputy Bekir Bozdağ argued that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan could be a candidate again if the general elections are held early.

Sharing a post on his social media account, Bekir Bozdağ said, “This election is the last election, as our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stated. Because, according to the Constitution, the term of office of the President is five years. A person can be elected President twice at most.”

“However, according to the Constitution, ‘If the Parliament decides to renew the elections during the President’s second term, the President may become a candidate once again.’ (Constitution, 116/3)” said Bozdağ and continued as follows:

“According to this provision of the Constitution, if the Grand National Assembly of Turkey decides to renew the elections, it is our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s constitutional right to become a Presidential Candidate for the third time. What the future will bring is unknown. Perhaps, when the time comes, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will decide to renew the elections and give our President the right to become a candidate again.” “May it be tomorrow, may it be good.
