BRATISLAVA – You have stopped putting a napkin in front of your mouth. A member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for the Smer-SSD party and a candidate for the European Parliament, Erik Kaliňák, recently attacked Progressive Slovakia on the social network, thus striking back at them. They are doing nothing else, they are not supporting Slovakia in the European Union, they are fighting against the Smer-SSD government party with lies and fabrications, Kaliňák claims.

According to Kaliňák, the Smer-SSD party and its members have to face attacks from progressives on a daily basis. “When PSko lost the parliamentary elections six months ago, despite the massive support of the media and the non-governmental sector, Russian propaganda, misinformation and even the inaction of the European Commission were to blame.” pointed out the indignant Erik Kaliňák. The opposition PS even called him a Russian agent. “I was labeled as a paid Russian agent for a conversation with a peer from America. When I made fun of journalists who challenged me before interviews to lustrate journalists, that I would start directly with them… PSko immediately ran to Brussels to sue. It complained that we are rolling out the red carpet for Putin,” the MEP candidate explained in the video.

Candidate for MEP: PS stands for Anti-Slovakia

Erik Kaliňák has long disliked the performance of Slovak progressives in the European Parliament, while also pointing to the past efforts of the PS to stop the flow of money from European funds to Slovakia. “If PSko does not win, Putin and disinformation are to blame. And then go to Brussels to talk about Slovakia and lobby for withdrawal of European funds. It is precisely because of your constant suing that people started calling PSko Anti-Slovenia, and today I join them.” concluded.

The spread of hatred on the part of the PS should also be proven by the video of the MEP candidate for the Progressive Slovakia party, Ľudovít Ódor, in which he criticizes the current government of Robert Fico: “Fico’s government threatens billions from European funds. Fico is close to Russia, says the French president,” sounds in the video from the PS campaign. Kaliņák made a sharp comeback. They are just lies that are not based on truth. According to him, the Smer-SSD party is not trying to side with Russia, but is fighting for the sovereignty of Slovakia in the European Union. It therefore has a clear message for the leader of the PS candidate and former prime minister of the caretaker government: “Mr. Ódor, Slovakia will not lose European funds. And if it weren’t for your manipulative letters full of lies, this wouldn’t even be a topic. Slovakia is not isolated. That’s just the nag Naď taking revenge on the Slovaks for not trusting him. Peter Pellegrini is not a pro-Russian president, just like the Pope is not pro-Russian. Unlike you, they realize the value of peace. And no relevant politician is pulling Slovakia out of the European Union. We have our own idea of the European Union. We want a union of nations in which the sovereignty and opinion of all will be respected again, not some superstate in which Brussels technocrats and big countries will impose their decision on everyone,” candidate for MEP Erik Kaliňák spoke sharply.

This is also why MEP candidates for the Smer-SSD party reject the abolition of the right of veto, which the members of Progressive Slovakia were supposed to vote for. “I understand that as a party that voted for the call to definitively abolish the veto and move to majority voting, you have a different opinion on this. And I also understand that if you win the European elections, you will do everything to make our opinion disappear from the public space forever. In Smer, we are going there to fight for Slovakia, not Anti-Slovakia,” he added in conclusion.
