Jesús ”Chus” Bueno Appointed CEO of Euroleague Basketball Amidst NBA Expansion Plans
Madrid, Spain – Euroleague Basketball has announced the appointment of Jesús “Chus” Bueno as its new Chief Executive officer, effective immediately. The unanimous decision by the Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) board of directors marks a pivotal moment for the organization as it navigates an increasingly competitive landscape, particularly with the impending launch of the NBA’s planned European league. Bueno succeeds Paulius Motiejunas, who served as CEO since June 2022.

Most recently, he led the growth of DAZN’s basketball vertical. Reports indicate Bueno was selected over Michael Ilgner for the position.
Motiejunas’ tenure saw significant developments, including the expansion of the EuroLeague to 20 clubs and increased activity in the Middle east, highlighted by hosting the EuroLeague Final Four in Abu Dhabi. Euroleague Basketball expressed gratitude for Motiejunas’ contributions,acknowledging his commitment to the organization’s growth and success.
