These statements made the Bayern fans sit up and take notice!

After his team’s 1:3 defeat in the top Bundesliga game at VfB Stuttgart, Thomas Tuchel (50) appeared relaxed.

With a view to the semi-final second leg of the Champions League next Wednesday at Real Madrid, the coach said in an interview on “Sat.1”: “If there was any game that I would tick off as quickly as possible, it would be this one against Stuttgart. It’s already forgotten, the next four days count. I won’t waste another minute playing the game.”

However, with the next question, Tuchel’s relaxed attitude stopped for a moment!

The reporter confronted him with the fact that his semi-final opponent Real in their last league game before the premier class clash on Wednesday (3-0 against Cádiz, editor’s note) was equal to four compared to the first leg in Munich (2-2). When the starting eleven changed positions while Bayern lined up with several regular stars in Stuttgart, Tuchel took off his smile and said: “You can do that if you have enough players.”

What does Tuchel mean THIS sentence?

Maybe a hidden criticism of the bosses regarding the current Bayern squad? Over the course of the season, Tuchel had complained several times that his team was very thinly staffed in some positions.

With his comments about the lack of rotation against Stuttgart, he primarily wanted to address another problem: namely the injury situation, which has simply not eased since the beginning of the season.

With Matthijs de Ligt (24/inner ligament injury), Jamal Musiala (21/knee tendon irritation), Kingsley Coman (27/adductor injury), Sacha Boey (23/torn thigh ligament), Bouna Sarr (32/torn cruciate ligament) and Tarek Buchmann (19 /Torn thigh bundle) six professionals did not travel to Stuttgart on Saturday due to injuries. In addition, Dayot Upamecano (25) was not yet fit enough after a ligament sprain. The Frenchman therefore only came into the game in the second half.

So Tuchel hardly had any opportunities for a mega rotation like the one the Whites did against Cádiz!

That’s why Tuchel was only able to rest Leroy Sané (28/substituted in the 72nd minute), Konrad Laimer (27) and Thomas Müller (34/both on the bench for 90 minutes) from his first leg against Real.

What makes the serious injury situation even worse: Raphael Guerreiro (30) had to be substituted in the 17th minute against VfB after he injured himself while blocking a shot. The Portuguese left the stadium on crutches and is in danger of missing the Real second leg. Real starter Leon Goretzka (28) had to come into the game to replace him, and he should actually have been rested for longer.

But that’s not enough! Coach Tuchel also had to take his best defender Eric Dier (30/BamS grade 2) off the field after the break after he had previously injured his head. At least there is hope for the Englishman that he could be fit for the Real Madrid clash.
