After his team’s 1:3 defeat in the top Bundesliga game at VfB Stuttgart, Thomas Tuchel (50) appeared relaxed.
With a view to the semi-final second leg of the Champions League next Wednesday at Real Madrid, the coach said in an interview on “Sat.1”: “If there was any game that I would tick off as quickly as possible, it would be this one against Stuttgart. It’s already forgotten, the next four days count. I won’t waste another minute playing the game.”

With Matthijs de Ligt (24/inner ligament injury), Jamal Musiala (21/knee tendon irritation), Kingsley Coman (27/adductor injury), Sacha Boey (23/torn thigh ligament), Bouna Sarr (32/torn cruciate ligament) and Tarek Buchmann (19 /Torn thigh bundle) six professionals did not travel to Stuttgart on Saturday due to injuries. What makes the serious injury situation even worse: Raphael Guerreiro (30) had to be substituted in the 17th minute against VfB after he injured himself while blocking a shot. The Portuguese left the stadium on crutches and is in danger of missing the Real second leg. Real starter Leon Goretzka (28) had to come into the game to replace him, and he should actually have been rested for longer.
But that’s not enough! Coach Tuchel also had to take his best defender Eric Dier (30/BamS grade 2) off the field after the break after he had previously injured his head. At least there is hope for the Englishman that he could be fit for the Real Madrid clash.
