Fines of over 340,000 lei for OMV Petrom stations

The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) started on Monday a control action, at the level of the whole country, which aims at the way in which the legislation is respected in the fuel stations of the OMV Petrom network.

Until now, ANPC commissioners have checked 197 stations, the action being ongoing.

The following sanctions were applied for the detected irregularities: contravention fines in the amount of over 340,000 lei; five warnings; the definitive stop from the sale of products worth more than 30,000 lei; temporary stoppage of services until the deficiencies are remedied for 11 stations; proposal for the closure of a fuel station for a period of up to six months, according to a press release from ANPC.

The main deviations found were: the lack of price tags on the products on the shelf; the use of unhygienic refrigeration units, with dead insects, accumulations of dust, impurities and ice; the use of fuel pumps with grooves (fuel gun) with degraded areas, with an advanced degree of wear and rust or dirty; the use of pressure gauges without metrological verification; the sale of unlabeled products – without identification elements; the use of unsanitized ice machines, taken out of use; non-compliance with the product storage temperature recommended by the manufacturer; inconsistencies between the price displayed on the shelf and the one charged at the cash register; the sale of products with an expired consumption date; the sale of finished culinary products for which no production sheets were presented; the sale of toys that were not accompanied by information regarding identification elements, age of users or warnings related to use; the sale of electrical equipment for which the green stamp fee was not displayed; non-compliance with the promotions regime (marketing of multipack packaged products, for which the reference product was not found, the difference between the price displayed at the promotion and the one charged at the cash register); the use of unsanitized cooking equipment or with an advanced degree of wear; the use of products with a changed thermal state; using unprofessional utensils in the kitchen and trash cans without lids.
