“So these days we have dedicated ourselves to helping them clean the house. We have only been in that now,” he added.

Aguirre also said that the closest airport (Porto Alegre) was closed until May 30. So the only thing they have left is to wait, or move to the nearest state, about 10 hours away (with the road closed). “They are charging us too much, 300 thousand pesos per person to take us,” he lamented.

Florencia cries out to the team for help. They want to return to the country as soon as possible to continue with their routines.

“The efforts we have now are with the Boating Federation, but the answers are not very concrete for now. They are going to see if they can do a project to help us monetarily, but it’s like they’re looking at it, nothing concrete,” he said.

Finally, for the peace of mind of their families, the native of Río Bueno clarified that “fortunately no one on the team, nor the people whose house was flooded, suffered injuries. They were on the roof of the house all night until they could rescue them.”

“Luckily nothing happened to lives on the team. Here they have seen people flowering by the river, dead, because that is the situation here. Fortunately, nothing happened to any of us,” he concluded.
