Former Veronica press secretary and artist manager Hans van der Veen (75) has died.

Hans van der Veen was the press secretary of (then) broadcasting association Veronica for many years. He started at Veronica in 1987. “It was a five-minute job interview with Rob Out. I had to figure it all out myself. But luckily it all worked out,” Van der Veen later recalled.

Hardly the tastiest

Like his illustrious predecessor Jan Morriën, Van der Veen came up with various slogans for Veronica. “Then I sent an email to thirty people and if they said it was good, then it was good. Jan Morriën came up with ‘Young, fast and wild’, ‘The tastiest’ comes from my mind.”

As press secretary of Veronica, Van der Veen witnessed the growth of the broadcaster to more than a million members. He left Veronica in 2003.

De Huizer then worked as an artist manager. He represented the interests of TV presenter Quinty Trustfull, among others. Trustfull writes in some photos on her Instagram that she and Van der Veen have known each other for decades. “We go back 33 years, my friend and manager and so much more,” she writes.
