Claros Technologies has secured $55 million in a Series B financing round to scale production of its proprietary destruction technologies aimed at eliminating per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as PFAS, from water and materials. The Minnesota-based green chemistry company announced the funding milestone to address rapidly escalating commercial demand for its destruction systems and to expand its manufacturing footprint across industrial sectors.
The financing round was led by Prelude Ventures, with participation from new and existing investors including Venture Investors, Clean Energy Trust, and Great North Labs. According to company disclosures, the fresh capital will directly fund the deployment of Claros Technologies’ commercial-scale units, which break down persistent chemical bonds rather than simply trapping or transferring the pollutants to landfills.
PFAS chemicals, often dubbed “forever chemicals” because of their extreme persistence in the environment and human body, have triggered widespread regulatory crackdowns and corporate liabilities. As municipal water authorities and manufacturing operations face tightening environmental standards, technology providers offering genuine destruction pathways are seeing a surge in market adoption.
Scaling ClarosTechUV™ and Destruction Capacity
At the center of the company’s commercial expansion is its proprietary technology platform, which utilizes advanced oxidation and ultraviolet processes to mineralize toxic fluorinated compounds into harmless byproducts. Unlike conventional filtration methods that merely concentrate the contaminants, the company’s systems destroy the molecular structure of legacy and emerging PFAS compounds.
The $55 million infusion enables Claros Technologies to transition from pilot-scale applications to high-throughput commercial units capable of treating large volumes of industrial wastewater and contaminated municipal supplies. Company leadership noted that the funding will also support continued research and development of specialized materials designed to capture and destroy contaminants at the source in manufacturing supply chains.
Industrial clients across aerospace, textile production, semiconductor manufacturing, and firefighting foam management are increasingly required to treat their effluent before discharge. By securing substantial institutional backing, Claros Technologies positions itself to meet stringent state and federal discharge limits currently being enacted by environmental regulators.
Regulatory Pressure and Market Demand
The market for PFAS remediation technologies has accelerated dramatically following federal and state policy shifts. Regulatory bodies have lowered acceptable thresholds for forever chemicals in drinking water to near-zero levels, forcing industries to adopt proactive treatment solutions to avoid severe penalties.
Investors are responding to this regulatory reality by channeling capital into clean technology firms that offer permanent remediation rather than temporary containment. The participation of specialized climate and sustainability funds in the Series B round underscores a broader financial shift toward environmental technologies that eliminate liability rather than passing remediation costs down the road.
Claros Technologies plans to deploy the capital immediately to increase its engineering and operational workforce at its headquarters and production facilities.
