Escalating Violence and Civilian impact in Gaza
Recent weeks have witnessed a significant surge in violence,especially in the northern Gaza governorate and northeastern Gaza City. The OHCHR reports extensive damage to residential buildings, leading to a dramatic increase in civilian casualties and forced displacement.
Between August 26th and September 1st, 816 Palestinians were killed – nearly double the number of fatalities from the previous week.
Approximately one million Palestinians remain in northern Gaza, increasingly confined to smaller and less safe areas.
Movement is perilous, and many are unable to relocate due to the lack of secure zones.
Humanitarian access remains severely restricted,hindering the delivery of essential supplies.
The situation is particularly dire for those trapped in eastern Gaza City, where aid workers are unable to reach vulnerable populations. Over 2,146 deaths have been recorded near facilities operated by the US and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and along critical aid convoy routes, highlighting the dangers faced by both civilians and humanitarian personnel.
