Teenager Arrested in greene County Shooting Following Extensive Manhunt
A Greene County,Pennsylvania,teenager is in custody following a Friday afternoon shooting that left his mother dead and his father injured. Jarrod noll, 18, faces charges of homicide and attempted homicide in connection wiht the incident.
Pennsylvania State Police responded to a home on Garrison Ridge road in New Freeport shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday, receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, troopers discovered a woman with a gunshot wound.
emergency medical personnel transported the woman to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries. A man at the scene also sustained a gunshot wound and received treatment at the same hospital, later being released in stable condition.
Investigations quickly revealed the victims were husband and wife, and their son, Noll, was the suspected shooter. Fortunately,Noll’s younger siblings were present in the home during the shooting,but the incident occurred outside. These children are now safely in the care of a family member.
Widespread Search and Apprehension
Following the shooting, Noll fled the scene on foot, initiating a large-scale search operation. State police immediately secured Garrison ridge Road and began combing the surrounding wooded area.
the search proved challenging due to limited cell service in the area. Despite deploying tracking dogs, helicopters, and numerous officers on foot throughout Friday night, authorities were initially unable to locate Noll. Though, the search continued into Saturday with unwavering determination.
“We used tracking dogs, we used helicopters, and we used police on foot searching rough terrain,” explained Pennsylvania State Police Sergeant Richard Sizer. “Obviously,when you have someone on the run with a homicide warrant,on the run with a gun,it is a huge danger to the community.”
Noll is currently being held in police custody in West virginia, awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania to face the charges against him.
