The Beauport babysitter accused of murdering a 14-month-old baby allegedly abused other children in her care. Two new charges of assault will be brought against Guenuite Mubwaka on Thursday morning.

The new accusations once again target toddlers who were under the responsibility of the accused according to our information.

The two alleged victims were aged 13 months and 20 months at the time of the acts alleged against the 25-year-old babysitter. The period of these new offenses goes from February 21 to March 18 according to the indictment made public Thursday. The accused is expected to be formally arraigned later this morning.

Already accused of murder

Recall that according to the charge of second degree murder already brought against Mubwaka, the first victim, a little girl, died on March 21 after being transported from the daycare to a hospital center. Emergency services were called to the scene for “an unconscious child”.

Resuscitation maneuvers were attempted during transport.

No other details have been released at this time regarding the circumstances that may have led to the toddler’s death.

A charge of assault was also brought against the guard in connection with the first victim. These actions allegedly occurred over a period of four months according to the indictment.

Still detained

Guenuite Mubwaka’s spouse was also indicted in connection with this affair. Josaphat Ndele, 30, is the target of a charge of complicity after the fact.

He is the owner of the residence on Avenue Sainte-Thérèse where the drama of March 21 took place and where the other abuses alleged against his partner took place.

The two accused remain imperatively detained for the duration of the proceedings due to the filing of a murder charge. They should file a request for provisional release before the Superior Court to hope to regain their freedom while awaiting their trial.

The Ministry of Families had confirmed that the family daycare was indeed accredited and under the aegis of the local coordinating office.

However, certain information obtained by The newspaper indicate that the guard service had been recognized by the ministry only in the weeks preceding the tragedy and that it had previously operated without certification.
