Hayden Pedigo Signs to Sub Pop with an Unconventional Deal
Hayden Pedigo has officially signed with indie label Sub Pop Records. The declaration was accompanied by a playfully unusual contract detailing the terms of the agreement.
According to a press release from Sub Pop, the deal includes a payment of “777 Gorgeous dollars,” a lifetime supply of free passes to Ol’ Bernard’s Roller Rink & Organ Honkers, and a one-foot plot of land at Village Lake, formerly known as Alcohol and Drug Abuse Lake in Richland County, South Carolina. Notably, the contract stipulates that Sub Pop will not request Pedigo to perform covers of Def Leppard,Dokken,The Doors,Van Halen,or Tank Top Party Lads. The full contract is available to view on Sub Pop’s website.
Pedigo expressed his excitement on Instagram, stating, “I signed with @subpop!!! The greatest label on earth! I can’t explain to y’all how excited I am to be working with them!” He also shared that he is currently working on his next full-length album and has “a lot of exciting things coming.”
In addition to the signing, Sub Pop announced that Pedigo will host a four-month-long NTS residency titled Amarillo Highway With Hayden Pedigo, beginning February 25th.
Pedigo’s previous album, I’ll Be Waving as You Drive Away, received a positive review from Pitchfork.
