Find Support adn Connection: Holyoke Medical center’s Cancer ‍support Group

For individuals and families navigating the challenges of⁢ cancer, finding a supportive ⁣community can make a meaningful difference. Holyoke Medical Center‍ is offering a Cancer Support Group throughout 2026,providing a⁤ safe and welcoming space⁣ for patients,survivors,families,and caregivers to connect,share experiences,and receive encouragement.

The support group will meet on the second thursday ⁢of most months from 4:30 to 6 p.m.‍ in the Fran Como Conference Room at Holyoke Medical Center, located at 575 Beech St., Holyoke. Scheduled meeting dates include March 12, April 9, May 14, ⁢July 9, August ⁣13, September 10,‍ october 8, and November 12.

This group, facilitated by oncology social worker james Haskins, fosters an environment where members feel heard, understood, and accepted. “Support‍ groups are a safe ‍place to⁣ talk about emotions and challenging subjects,”⁤ explains haskins. ⁤“Our group members have developed a community through‍ shared experiences ⁢and feelings, creating a ⁣welcoming space ⁢for others.”

Beyond emotional support, the Holyoke⁣ Medical Center Cancer Support group provides a⁣ light meal, educational resources, and engaging activities. Participants are‍ encouraged to contribute feedback through surveys ⁢at each meeting,helping to shape future discussions and⁣ ensure the group continues to meet the evolving‍ needs of its members.
