According to the BBC, this time it is about Amazon Web Services.

It is a subsidiary company that provides a cloud platform and a hosting website to the public. According to financial reports, AWS represents 14% of Amazon’s total revenue. Through AWS, the company is focusing on artificial intelligence by investing in a security and research startup.

The latest layoffs concern several hundred sales positions,

marketing and global services, and several hundred positions in the physical store technology team. The cuts will affect Amazon branches around the world, although most of the positions will be lost by those employed in the company’s hometown – Seattle.

The company said workers employed in the U.S. will receive pay and benefits for at least 60 days

, assistance in finding another job and access to transitional health services. They will also be entitled to a retirement severance pay.
