ILO launches national award for Journalism in Social Protection –

The International Labor Organization (ILO) launches next Wednesday, 24th, at the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR), in Luanda, the national award for Journalism in Social Protection.

Funded by the European Union, the First Edition of the National Prize for Journalism in Social Protection aims to recognize and encourage the practice of journalism linked to the area of ​​Social Protection in Angola, aiming to promote greater knowledge among Angolans about the system and benefits of Social Protection and encouragement greater citizen participation in the Social Protection system.

The initiative is in partnership with CEFOJOR and the Association of Angolan Communicologists (ACAN), and takes place within the scope of the Project “Expansion of Social Security to Support the Formalization of the Angolan Economy”, implemented by the ILO in Angola and financed by the European Union .

Taking into account the relevance that the aforementioned Award will have among the media, the different institutions involved and, mainly, families
Angolans, the initiative will take place annually.

“The Prize will distinguish journalistic works (news and reports) that address matters about Social Protection, both under the contributory and non-contributory regimes, produced by journalists who practice journalism in Angola”, reads the statement sent to Kianda’s Mail.

About the project

The “Expansion of Social Security to Support the Formalization of the Angolan Economy” Project contributes to the formalization efforts of the Government of Angola, supporting the process of expanding social security coverage and benefits, through direct technical assistance to the Government, strengthening technical capabilities and institutional development of the institutions involved and promoting social dialogue, for the active participation of workers, employers and other interested parties.
