School principal İbrahim Oktugan (74), who died as a result of an armed attack by 17-year-old YK, who was expelled from the school, at a private school in Istanbul, was sent off on his last journey. Speaking before the prayer, Bayrampaşa District Mufti Recep Eren defended ‘immigrants’ in his speech.

In the incident that took place yesterday morning at a private high school in Eyüpsultan, school principal İbrahim Oktugan, who was attacked with a gun by 17-year-old YK, who was expelled from school 5 months ago, lost his life.

Oktugan was sent off on his final journey after the funeral prayer performed following the afternoon prayer at Eyüpsultan Mosque. His wife Fatma Oktugan and son Görkem Oktugan accepted his condolences.

Oktugan’s family, Deputy Minister of National Education Nazif Yılmaz, Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Murat Mücahit Yentür, Eyüpsultan Mayor Mithat Bülent Özmen, Former Mayor Deniz Köken, many teachers and students attended the funeral prayer. İbrahim Oktugan’s body was buried in Eyüpsultan Cemetery.

MIGRANT DEFENSE FROM THE MUFTI

Speaking before the prayer, Bayrampaşa District Mufti Recep Eren said, “It is never humane or Islamic to make someone victimized and oppressed by expressing this disgusting situation as ‘Immigrant’ again. “It is our motto as believers and muwahhids not to give opportunity to anyone who tries to benefit from this and in this context tries to stir up our country,” he said.

Ahmet Fedakar, the parent of one of İbrahim Oktugan’s students, said, “Mr. İbrahim was my daughter’s principal when she was in primary school. It is impossible to explain, he does no harm to anyone, he is a gentleman, he is kind, we have never seen anything bad before. I don’t understand how they did this. “It is a very difficult thing to talk about. May God forgive his negligence,” he said.

Oktugan’s student Hevidal Halli said, “We lost our principal due to a very bad incident. As students and teachers, we are very sorry. Our teachers and we are always with his family. The 17-year-old Iraqi student was expelled from school 5 months ago. We were very saddened that the issue was brought up again after 5 months and our manager was murdered. Our teacher would never insult us or say bad things about us. “He would warn us, he would give a speech every Friday and we loved him very much.”
