American society sees and judges global conflicts very differently from its own perspective.

Two years after the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war, 74 percent of Americans considered the conflict important from the point of view of the national interest, 43 percent of them considered it of critical importance. A Pew Research Center poll conducted at the end of January shows similar trends for China and Taiwan, as well as Israel and Hamas.

75 percent of those surveyed consider these sources of conflict to be important from the point of view of the American national interest, but at the same time

the war between Israel and Hamas is considered critically important by the highest percentage, 47 percent.

When asked how personally important these crises are to Americans, it was clearly the Israel-Hamas war that moved people the most (65 percent), followed only by the war in Ukraine (59 percent), and the China-Taiwan tension (57 percent).

The research also addressed whether there is a difference between those with democrat and republican sentiments regarding the assessment of individual sources of conflict. The Pew Research Center finally concluded that

the war in Ukraine is much more important to the Democrats than to the Republicans, there is roughly a consensus regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, while Taiwan moves the Republicans more.

The analysis also examined whether differences could be discovered between the individual age groups. In almost all cases, the older age groups attributed more importance to the conflict zones, while the young people were much less interested in these events.
