The International Monetary Fund said on Wednesday that its discussions with Egypt regarding a $3 billion financing package are continuing and moving forward despite regional challenges.

According to the Forbes Middle East website, the Director of the International Monetary Fund for the Middle East and Central Asia, Jihad Azour, said today that “the talks with the Egyptian authorities also addressed the repercussions of the Gaza war.”

The website added that Azour refused to provide more information about increasing the loan package, but stressed that “any additional financing for Egypt will also be linked to priorities, reforms, and the financial gap.”

The International Monetary Fund said in December 2023 that it was in talks to expand the program, given the economic risks of the war between Israel and Gaza.
