Sleep is as vital to the human body as eating, drinking and breathing, however, it can be difficult to get enough sleep every night for a number of reasons.

The British Health Service (NHS) explained that adults should sleep for seven to nine hours every night, but this is not always possible for many people due to long working hours, family life, stress, illness or insomnia, and this can create some problems. Serious health.

Lack of sleep has been linked to problems such as obesity, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease and dementia, according to the British newspaper Express.

A study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that experiencing a certain common sleep problem may make you more susceptible to developing a certain cancer.

Men who are awake for 30 minutes or more at night also have an increased risk of prostate cancer.

As part of the study, the research team surveyed more than 34,000 male participants without a history of prostate cancer.

The scientists then measured sleep characteristics including wakefulness using a wristwatch-like device called an Actigraphy.

They were followed for 6-7 years, during which 1,152 participants were diagnosed with high-risk prostate cancer.

It found that those who logged 30 minutes or more of waking up after falling asleep were 15 to 20 percent more likely to get sick than those who didn’t wake up at all, or at least for less than half an hour.
